Why is a mind virus like a computer virus?

Mind Virus
These days I expect that most of us are familiar with computer viruses and the damage which they can cause. Many of us may well have suffered the consequences of a computer virus. Computer viruses vary widely in their effects, but treatment is usually quite drastic. Without proper treatment some computer viruses can be very persistent.
I think that most people would probably agree that using a Band-Aid type solution on a computer virus is a waste of time. By a Band-Aid type solution, I mean one which involves treating the symptoms rather than the tap root of the problem. So-called solutions which address surface issues are usually a complete waste of time because the computer virus continues according to the nature of its internal programming. What I call “computer brain surgery” is usually required to correct the issue. The deep-seated computer virus code usually must be removed.
Our minds work in similar ways to computers in the sense that we can have what I term a “mind virus” which causes us to think and behave according to a particular pattern.
The term mind virus is not new – here are some examples: Wikipedia and the Urban Dictionary. In this article I am conceptualising the term mind virus to illustrate the point that many emotional, psychological and even spiritual problems can have their roots in a deep-seated thought pattern so strong that it has key similarities with a computer virus. There are a whole host of so-called and apparent solutions to the problems caused by these mind viruses, however for the particularly bad ones there are few real solutions that really work.
What we need to do of course, is to be able to get at the deep root of the problem so that we can change the internal programming of our minds. Operating at the head level, and using mind altering chemicals, or other similar methods which treat only symptoms will not produce what we really need ( but not all of us want) which is real change.
In order to cure ourselves of these mind viruses we need to first understand, in a simplistic way, some key principles upon which the mind works. Consider the last time you had a dream that was either really pleasant or very bad. You will no doubt recall how on waking you either felt disappointment or relief that the dream was not real. The reason you felt this way is that the part of your mind which was functioning during the dream does not know the difference between truth and reality. The unconscious and subconscious parts of our mind have no idea what is true and what isn’t. It is only the conscious mind which can tell the difference. (I’m not going to delve into debate here about the mental boundaries of spiritual or intuitive phenomena).
Negative mind viruses, as I have defined the term above, have strong similarities to horror movies – or any movie in which bad things happen. We are very visual creatures. These internal mind viruses play a bad movie according to a variety of factors. Many of these mind viruses operate at the unconscious or subconscious level and often conflict with what we want consciously. I might add that can include what we think we want consciously as well. But rather than complicate things unduly, let’s focus on the key point:
We have internal mind viruses in visual format which affect an enormous amount of what we do, and yet we are mostly unaware of them. Many people are totally unaware.
The solution is to be found in the realm of the visual and as you keep reading this blog you will learn more about why this is so, and importantly, how you can find solutions for your own life.
I would also add that what you will learn here, I have personally had in-depth experience of. I have experienced very dramatic change in my thinking; and in my life as a result. I feel so much better than I did earlier in my life because these things just work.
I will write more on this subject in due course….
